A "gift of gratitude" is what Devi our co founder called it, while pitching the concept of the awards to farmers to friends and families of Bio Basics. "It is not for us to judge the organic farmers. It is only for us to thank them for their commitment, hard work and contribution".
And then, Ramesh Chandran founder said, let us call it "Nandri". Nandri means "thank you" in Tamil. And the name stuck!
Folks at Bio Basics love it. The Jury felt it reflects the essence of our effort here. The Awardees appreciated the thought... on the awards function almost everyone felt that Nandri is the feeling that resounded in their ears and resonated in their hearts
Arun, a graphic designer with a passion for Tamil typography brought a shape to the name. He said, " The idea was to integrate diverse agriculture practices into a simple shape. The logo should be unique and inclusive, that of a grain, a leaf, a bud, of hands folded in humble gratitude."
Thank you Arun. Nandri!
Ramesh saw in the logo wholesomeness and symmetry. And also saw the varied colours within the grain representing the diversity that Nature is, of crops and grains and food; Of tongues, and colours and beliefs.
He also saw the Vel (spear-head) of Lord Murugan, whose abode on Maruthamalai (a 1000-year temple atop a hill) we can see from the Bio Basics office at Coimbatore.
Nandri at every level ....to one and all , to the creator and created and those of us who care.
Above all, Nandri to all organic farmers and champions rooting for an organic way of life as part of Nature, in consonance with Nature.
Nandri! Nandri! Nandri !
Tell us what you see in the Nandri logo !
