Dubraj fragrant Rice (Raw)
Description
-
A good substitute for Basmati
-
100% Natural
Dubraj is a long, slender-grained scented rice from Chhattisgarh. Its delicate aroma, appetising flavour, and non-sticky texture make it ideal for long-grained preparations such as pulavs and biryanis. It tastes equally good as steamed rice, eaten with Indian curries.
The Story
Dubraj Fragrant Rice comes to us from a tribal belt area in Dantewada district, Chhattisgarh, coordinated by a certified farmers’ group. The group consists mainly of Madia Gond tribal farmers who cultivate rice in midland areas, under rainfed conditions. The rice supplied to us is semi-polished.
Most people associate scented rice with Basmati rice, unaware that India has a wide range of fragrant rices. Bio Basics, through its initiative called ‘Beyond Basmati’ have taken the lead to promote all varieties of fragrant rice from different parts of India. Our campaign aims to create awareness and a market for these rices as well as promote the growing and multiplication of scented rice.
