Many health benefits
Bio Basics’ Cold-press Groundnut Oil comes from organically grown groundnuts. It is a popular cooking oil in Tamil Nadu. Its rich taste is suitable for all kinds of Indian cooking and for making southeast Asian dishes. You can use our groundnut oil to make curries, stir fries and deep fried snacks like samosas, pakodas, and vadas. Since our cold-pressed oil is thick and packed with flavour, you only need to use half of the usual oil consumption.
The Story
Bio Basics sources cold-pressed groundnut oil from small mills in Sathyamangalam and Coimbatore. The organically-grown groundnuts are sourced locally and milled in small rotary mills which has a speed of 15 rpm. The oil is extracted at a temperature of 30 degrees centigrade. The heat is controlled so that the oil does not lose its properties. Once the oil is extracted, it is filtered through a very tight sieve or a gada cloth and kept in the solar dryer or sun for further natural sedimentation to happen. Once the sediments settle at the bottom, the oil is poured out. Since the oil does not go through any mechanical or chemical filtration, it is thick. It is natural to find a bit of sediment in the oil which proves its purity and richness.
The consistency of the oil varies from time to time because the nature of the groundnut changes from season to season. Unlike commercial oils that go through a unifying process, where the oil is refined, bleached and deodorised to give it a glass-like appearance, cold-pressed oil does not go through a filtration process except a normal gada cloth or a very fine sieve. It is then left for a while for natural sedimentation to happen. The oil is therefore thick and turgid compared to refined oil.

How to
-
Bio Basics’ Cold-press Groundnut Oil is popularly used for deep frying since the retention of oil in the fried food is relatively low. When heated, the oil might bubble or there might be a foam formation on the surface of the oil. This happens because cold-pressed oils do not go through a high heat pressing process and so there may be a little residual moisture in the oil, which comes to the surface when the oil is heated.
Note: If you are allergic to nuts, it is advisable to avoid all groundnut products.
