Nandri Awards
Selection Process

A five-member Jury constituted to select the six awardees for 2024 comprised of:

  1. An independent writer, a retired journalist
  2. A prominent public figure working in agriculture and environment in Kerala
  3. The woman-CEO of a large organic farmer producer company in Tamil Nadu
  4. The President of the Organic Farming association of India, and
  5. The Co-Founder of Bio Basics

Devi, the co-founder of Bio Basics says, “Anantha Trust and Bio Basics were founded to support organic farmers, organic farming and to help conserve heirloom varieties of grains. We have immense gratitude towards these stewards of the land and the seed, and this award is only a token of our gratitude for their work. We see this as a gift of gratitude, that’s how we arrived at the name for the award Nandri. We have only one word to express it – Nandri!”

Illiyas, the President of the Organic Farming Association and a member of the Jury, said, “There are many in the organic space who never seek awards and this is special because it is saying thank you to these farmers. The award is called Nandri, to express our gratitude to such people. So, it was an opportunity for me to nominate such persons and say thank you to them for their work for us and the planet.”

The Award Cash Grant

The Awards carry a cash grant, for which the funds have been raised through donations from supporters, friends, founders and customers of Bio Basics. The first two Awards carry a cash grant of ₹50,000 each, and the other four awards carry a cash grant of ₹25,000 each.
