The Story

The white traditional field beans are grown by members of an organic farming collective based in Hubli , in Dharward district , as kharif crop.It is called avare in Kannnada , it is traditionally used for pulses curry and much loved for its creamy texture. Avare/field beans is also much loved in Tamil nadu cuisine where the red version is found.

White field beans, also known as broad beans, are a time-honored staple in traditional diets around the world. With their creamy white color and distinctive flattened shape, they bring both nourishment and versatility to the kitchen.

Storage

How to Cook

White field beans should be soaked overnight before cooking. Simmer on the stovetop for 45–60 minutes or pressure cook for 4–5 whistles until tender. Add salt towards the end and use them in soups, stews, salads, curries, or dips
