Monsoon superfood that needs no recipe!

Here are 10 reasons why we feel Kanji (or as it is popularly known now as Congee) is a Superfood:

1. Quick to make. Rinse it, Boil it, Drink it! Takes 20 minutes if you choose red rice.

2. Easy to make. No recipe! No grinding, grating, blending, just boil rice in a cooker, Insta pot or open vessel.

3. Full of energy. Good energy.

4. Easy to eat and digest. Kanji is given to those who are ill, so their bodies can get the energy without spending too much energy digesting it.

5. Combined with Pulses, and vegetables, it is a balanced meal. Ideally combined with Moong dal preparation with coconut (aka Payaru thoran in Kerala). See video here.

6. Great as a soup during these rainy days, when we crave for something warm to drink and eat.

7. Low on spices and oil.

8. Filling. Try a bowl of Red Rice Kanji (with Payaru and vegetables) and see your hunger vanish quickly.

9. Versatile. Ideal for early morning breakfast or lunch or dinner!! OK...it is not a dessert...nor a snack...

10. Great companion. Goes with anything - dry subzi, wet curry, raw salad, pickles, chutney, papad. Name it, it goes with it! Ok, don't try rotis with it...

Try it and let us know what you think. Really curious.

Stay tuned for more.

Second, the time it takes to reach you is long, despite world-class courier companies (and the high charges we pay). Such is the nature of the beast! So how can you help? Plan ahead, and order well in time so the Bio Basics goodies can reach you when you are ready for it!

Thanks for working with us to spread the goodness of organic whole foods.
And please do spread the good word, while you are at it!! :)
