Sona Masuri Brown Rice, also commonly known as brown rice, is one of the India’s most popular eaten brown rice varieties. Sona masuri rice gets its name from the beautiful golden colour it posses. It is a slender long grain that is unpolished and contains 100% bran. Once cooked, the rice opens up like flower and chewy to eat. The rice can be eaten with all kinds of gravy. The rice has a low GI. If you’re looking for healty option to regular white rice that aids weight loss, sona masuri brown rice might be the best option.
The Story
Bio Basics’ Sona Masuri rice retain 100% bran to keep the fiber and mineral content high. The sourced organically grown Sona Masuri brown rice is unpolished, processed, milled, and stored chemical free.
We get our Sona Masuri brown rice from a third-party certified organic farmers group in Karnataka. The rice is also third party certified. Freshly milled brown rice is supplied to us. This is a commonly available brown rice variety throughout the year. So we categorise it under our regular offering.

Storage
• After opening the package, store the rice in an airtight container in a cool, dry place.
• Don't be worried if you find bugs in your long-stored rice. This is normal when grain is grown organically and naturally processed and stored.
• After an hour of sun drying and two hours of shade drying, clean the rice and replace it in the container with some cloves, bay leaves, or chilies.

Cook
• Pressure cooker: Soak 1 cup rice : 3 cups water. Cook on high flame for up to three whistles and 5 to 6 minutes on low flame.
• Open vessel: 1 cup rice : 3 cups water. Boil water before adding rice and cook on low flame for 20 minutes.
Note: Before cooking, soak the rice for 1 hour. This softens the rice and reduces the cooking time.
