When moringa powder became a thing!

When moringa powder became a thing I was quite sceptical wondering why we need the dried powder or dried leaves when this tree grows everywhere in our country.

In Bio Basics, we were particular about offering moringa leaves every week till the lack of demand on the one hand and complaints about lack of freshness, on the other hand, defeated us. By the time the leaves were ready to be cooked, they had shed and sometimes yellowed despite trying cloth wrapping, paper wrapping, and banana leaf wrapping ( which worked best). That's when I realized that this tree with its magnificent fruit and powerhouse leaves is best grown and consumed locally.

But many of us want to consume it for our health and don’t have the luxury of growing it, some others get it but do not have the time to clean the leaves painstakingly. Also, farmers and collectives who grow this in plenty have no way to sell it fresh to distant cities and could do with the additional income.

That's where the dried leaves or powder.

A small collective in Chamarajanagara near the BR hills is trying to revive a piece of arid land through regenerative agri practices and is organically growing to dry and powdering the leaves fresh  This is a source of income for the collective and we decided that this is the moringa powder we will have, bright green #singleorigin, pristine.

I started trying this moringa powder. I haven't gone as far as to have smoothies with it but have started trying it on dosas and with rice and ghee and surprise, surprise I like it!

Last week the collective surprised us with a packet of moringa seeds.  If you are ordering Moringa powder, want some seeds have a place to grow it, let us know, we will send a packet of 4-5 seeds.
